Can Hemorrhoids Be Related To Cough Or Sore Throat?

I have haemorroids and went to see the surgeon today. He was a bit grumpy, and I was very anxious as I dont go to the doctor very often at all. The nurse took my BP and it was really high. I have had a cough with a bit of mucous and quite a sore throat. Does any or all of that equate to elevating my BP?

Hi. The anxiety of visiting a doctor can itself raise the blood pressure significantly. This phenomenon is also known as white coat anxiety.

The cough causes a rise in the intra-abdominal pressure and this can worsen your hemorrhoids.

You will need a short course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and oral antiseptic rinses to take care of your sore throat. This however needs to be prescribed by your physician or an ENT specialist.

I would encourage you to not worry too much. The worry can do much worse than the haemorrhoids and the elevated blood pressure.
