Can Hole In The Heart Of A Foetus Go Undetected On Sonography?

i have questions for my wife as she was pregnant 4 months back we did all the sonography on time and all the reports were normal and she gave birth to a boy but at that time the child was not able to breath properly. And said needs to shift the child to NICU which we did every thing was fine all the reports that we did in 9 months of pregnancy were normal inclouding advance sonography in which it said all the bones,heart & kidny's and everything were normal.
After 10 of under being in NICU child SP doctor checked and said every thing is normal and will shift the child to mother in the morning later after 30mints doctor came rushing and went in the NICU and came back after 30 mints again and said the child is getting critical and after 30mints doctor said the child is not responding to the medicanes.
And doctor later said are child had expired the doctor said the cause of death was a hole in the heart but all the sonography said everything including the heart was normal.
We checked the reports with the other child SP and they said the child was normal and all the reports were fine.
My question is what might have happend to my child why the treatment which my child got was not correct or what???
Please reply as my wife is under a lot of stress about the incedent.

thanks for your question. well its very unlikely not to notice hole in the heart capable of causing death.
though certain congenital heart conditions are noticed as child progresses in life. some show up by day 2,3 7 or 15 and sime typically by 2 months. so as reason it is possible. but hy reports are normal that is unexplainable. well antenatal ultrasound may miss at times but was 2d echo doneafter birth ? it would explain for sure.
in short explaination given to you is not completely wrong.
