Can Hysterectomy Cause Complications Later On?

I had a total hysterectomy about 8yrs ago. A couple days ago, I felt a hard knot in my vaginal cuff area. I am now discharging brownish/ and red(blood) there is also a smell. I am 40yrs old and have been married for 14yrs and not had sex for over two years do to what I blame on the hysterectomy. At this current time I do not have insurance, and not sure if this is something normal or is it something I need to be very concerned about. Thank You Sharon

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you visit a gynaecologist so that he/she can have a proper pelvic examination as I can't make any diagnosis without having an examination. The discharge you mentioned in your question may be because of some infection which can be evaluated by a PAP smear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
