Can Hysterectomy Lead To Dryness, Soreness And Itching In Labia?
Hello! I am 43 yrs old and had a hysterectomy 2 yrs ago. Just my uterus. About six mox. After the surgery, I noticed that I was very dry, sore and itchy on my labia. I don't. Have any discharge at all. Also, I have a much lower sex drive and takes me much longer to have an orgasm, clitorally. I'm hoping this is due to my hysterectomy and what can I do? Please help!! Thank you!
Hi! welcome to HCM! Vaginal dryness is a common problem in pre-menopausal women with low levels of oestrogen, such as after hysterectomy .You can try local oestrogen available in the form of small tablets , vaginal rings, creams and pessaries. Vaginal dryness responds well to local oestrogen treatments, they also help greatly with discomfort and pain during sex, correct the vaginal pH and regulate bacteria. Unlike conventional forms of HRT, the effects are local therefore the risks are reduced Avoid perfumed soaps and use creams to treat skin irritation .Vaginal lubricants can be useful. Hope this helps!Take care!
