Can I Get Pregnant After Not Taking Hypothyroidism Medicine For Long?
Hi my name is Alexis, I am 23 & have suffered from underactive thyroid since I was 16 ( or at least thats when I found out about it ). I have never been consistent with going to get my medicine refilled as I am young and well I was irresponsible but I have never gone more then 2 months without taking it, until now. Currently I have been off my levothyroxine for about 7 months. I m just wondering how badly I could be messing up my body right now? Also would it be possible for me to end up pregnant after not taking it for so long? I am going to the doctor next week but I just couldn t wait any longer to ask. I feel like total crap all the time like my body is just giving up and more recently have been gaining a lot of weight out of nowhere.
It is always good not to skip your thyroid medications as it can impair your quality of life and promote cholesterol deposition in your blood vessel. It's always good to go back to the medicines, get your TSH under control and then become pregnant. Otherwise if can lead to miscarriages in the first trimester and preterm labour in the later part of pregnancy.
