Can I Get Pregnant Even After Taking I Pill?

Hi Doc, I had unprotected sex on the 7th day after I got my period and took an ipill within 12 hrs. Can i be pregnant. I got my period on 25th Dec and had sex on 30th night took ipill on 31st and have been experiencing tenderness in my breasts and lower abdominal pain. I did a pregnancy test but its negative. Its too early to detect i know but I hope im not pregnant. Pls help

Hello,

You did unprotected sex on SAFE PERIOD and took I-pill within first 12 hrs, which will give more than 95% protection against unwanted pregnancy. Your chance of pregnancy is EXTREMELY RARE or NIL.

You will get a withdrawal bleeding within 5-7 days due to effect of the pill. It is quite NORMAL and natural phenomena.

Your next period may be delayed for 1-2 weeks due to hormonal imbalance and mental stress. However, I suggest to undergo one home pregnancy test if your period is delayed more than 1 week. Early pregnancy test is INSIGNIFICANT.
