Can I Get Pregnant Post Unprotected Sex Despite Being On Depo Provera?

I m on depo Vera, and i recently had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on the 16th. My next shot was on the 18th but I missed it. two days ago, there was normal blood, I m now having dark brown discharge, but not getting my period. Could I be pregnant or should I be worried?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

If you were on the depo shots and were regular prior to the unprotected sexual contact, then pregnancy is highly unlikely. The delayed period could be a side effect of the missed shot on the 18th.

I would either way recommend a home pregnancy test to be conducted using an early morning urine sample at least 2 weeks from the unprotected sexual contact to rule out pregnancy. Once you get back on to your regular depo shot regimen, your symptoms should subside (i.e. once pregnancy has been actively ruled out).

Best wishes.
