Hi

A pill free period of 7 days is a must to ensure withdrawal bleed to occur. The drug should be taken for 21 days only.Althea contains ethinyl estradiol and cyproterone. Cyproterone causes many side effects.Hence avoided when pregnancy prevention is the only need.More effective low dose hormones are available for the same indication.Kindly consult your gynaecologist before changing the drug.

Hope that was helpful.Let me know if i can assist you further.
