Can I Take Nystatin And Diflucan Together?

I have a case of thrush in my mouth from antibotics my Gastro doctor has me on. I took a 7 day Rx of nystatin swish and swallow and stopped the antibotics. After the thrush cleared up I started the antibiotics again and once again the thrush is back. I have a Rx for diflucan and also some of the nystatian left. Can I take both together .

Hi
I can understand your concern.

If Nystatin "swish n swallow" was effective in eradicating the fungal infection of the oral cavity (i.e. antibiotic induced oral thrush) your treating doctor could have advised you to continue the same rather than prescribing a new drug however effective it is.
The reasons for prescribing Diflucan is not mentioned.

Either you continue using Nystatin or start taking Diflucan, but don not take them together since one of them is quite effective in the treatment of oral thrush.

Hope to have answered your query.
