General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine) is a Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor (SNRI) used in the treatment of major depressive disorder. Its use is associated with drowsiness, syncope, blurred vision, confusion, decreased concentration, decreased coordination, dystonias and convulsion.
Since you had a stroke one month ago, use of this medication is thus not safe.
You are therefore advised to consult your treating neurologist to prescribe an alternate but a safer medication for depression since Zoloft does not appear to be effective in your case.
Hope this will help you.
