Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. Ill try to make this short. Im 33, healthy mother of 4. I have been on Zoloft 10mg for about 10 years. I have been taking Adderall 20mg for about 5 months. I take them both together in the am. I feel better than I have in years. I don t get this burst of energy that I have heard people talk about nor does it effect my stomach. All it really does is make me feel emotions and it helps my racing thoughts. I saw a counselor who always told me I have ADD along with anxiety. My doctor is just a general dr but she thinks that I don t have ADD. So my question is, if I don t then why do I feel more normal on a combination of Zoloft and Adderall together?
ADD can be a difficult diagnosis to make, so it's very possible your general doctor is in error. If it was a psychiatrist who prescribed the Adderall because s/he thought you had ADD, I would be more inclined to believe the specialist was more accurate, as s/he would be more familiar with the diagnosis. It also would depend on what symptoms are being treated. Either drug or the combination may benefit other conditions that are not necessarily anxiety or ADD. In any case, it is working for you regardless of the specific diagnosis, so the best thing is to continue using the combination. Hope this helps.
