Hello, I am 22 weeks pregnant and am having a hard time sleeping tonight. My doctor ok'd me to take Unisom sleep tablets but all I have available at the moment are the Equate Nighttime Sleep Aid. Can I still take those or would I be better off grabbing some brand name Unisom tablets?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Unisom tablets contain doxinate. It acts as antiemetic and also can help in inducing sleep. Whereas equate nighttime tablets contain diphenhydramine. It helps in inducing sleep. Both these tablets belongs to category B drugs in pregnancy. Means animal studies didn't show any adverse effects but sufficient human studies are lacking. So, you can use any one of these tablets. If you are having associated nausea like symptoms, Unisom is beneficial. Take care.
