Can I Take Some Other Medicine For Pain If I Have COPD?

I just had a hernia surgery. I was prescribed Percocet I received Acetaminophen325 mg/ oxycodone 5mg I usually get a write up from pharmy I did not this time and my their was questions to the person who got this prescription. I was told after surgery about getting presc and the assistant stated a step down usage. I looked this up now I have taken one and half pills tonight. it states 1 to 2 every 6 hrs as needed and for 30 pills? I have severe COPD ? I have home oxygen...This is not the med for pain given by the hospital in day operation Should I be concerned. It states I should not use if copd.. I do have hypertension and think it has been added to

Yes I agree that if you have severe COPD then u should not take codeine or oxycodone as it can cause further retention of CO2 due to respiratory depression. Safer would be to take drugs like paracetamol or tramadol
