Hi,
Combining wine and Co-codamol is extremely dangerous as the mixture intensifies the effects of the other, that increases the risk of overdose of and long term health damage. Wine can cause narcotic pain relievers like co-codamol to rapidly release, resulting in high blood levels and intoxication. The mixture can also result in extremely impaired judgement, making driving and other daily activities particularly risky. Some of the most harmful side effects of mixing the two substances include- extreme drowsiness, fatigue, headaches, mental impairment, low blood pressure or
hypotension,
memory loss, delayed motor skills and reaction time, respiratory depression, fainting, coma, even death etc.
Additionally, the combination of wine or alcohol and co-codamol can damage the gastrointestinal system. It can increase the risk of
abdominal bloating, inflammation, ulcers,
indigestion and
malnutrition. It is important to note that combining wine and Co-codamol mean that in case of overdose, it will be harder to treat. So, it is better to avoid wine consumption while taking co-codamol.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
