Can Inhalation Of Polyurethane Fumes Cause Any Health Hazard?

Hello, They installed new hardwood floors in the apartment 2 floors up from ours. The smell from the polyurethane (and sealant and whatever else they use) has been coming in from the bathroom (our bathroom windows are all connected by a skylight). It smelled on Thursday and Friday, very strongly in the bathroom, but seemed to have subsided in the evening. There was no smell on Saturday and today, Sunday, it smelled stronger than ever all over the house. All doors and windows are open and that seems to help but I m concerned about the health effects this may have on my kids, the 3 year old has had to go to the washroom in this smell and I also have 4 month old twins. Thanks for the advice

Welcome to healthcare magic! You are doing right thing by keeping windows and doors open, so the concentration to which you are getting exposed is minuscule. Effect of any VOCs will be dependent on concentration of it in air, duration of exposure of a person. As this is a short term exposure and two floors above your floor, you need not worry about long term health effects.
