Can Injecting Progesterone In Oil Into A Vein Be Dangerous?
is injecting "progesterone in ethyl oleate" into a vein dangerous? my husband just gave me an IM injection of progesterone in oil (ethyl oleate). after sticking the needle in my butt, he pulled back on the syringe to check for blood. He said he didn't see any, but he also was not wearing his glasses. After he injected the oil, and pulled out the needle, I noticed blood inside the syringe. So did he inject the oil into a vein? Should I be concerned? Thank you
I am so sorry to hear about this and the disturbing thoughts that this has caused you. Well, if it were injected into the veins, the consequences are often immediate. If he didn't see any blood, then most likely was not in a vein. When a syringe is withdrawn, if there is any space in it, it would gather blood as it traverses all the injured vessels on its way out. I always discourage getting injections administered by no professionals. If that were the case, please avoid attempting such dangerous procedures in future.
I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for patronizing our services and please do feel free to ask for follow up clarifications and information if need be. I wish you the best of health. Dr. Ditah, MD.
