Can Injured Spine Be Related To Urinary Tract Infection?

Hello Sir, one of our relatives' son injured his spine 4 years ago and has been undergoing treatment. As he got urinary problems, a cathter was placed, due to which he has been getting frequent UTIs. So many antbiotics have been used, but the problem still persists. Any suggestion please?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Yes, this is possible that spine injury causes UTI since nerves responsible for urinary function may be damages. He should do urographic and neurogenic tests to see if there is neurogene bladder or not. Then it can be appropriately treated if required.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
