Can Klebsiella Oxytoca Be Caused By Long Diapers Usage?
Can klebsiella oxytoca be caused by long diapers usage or its improper usage? The bacteria is infected my grandmother’s inner thighs skin and infection is spreading around. She is bedridden and has to wear diapers all the time. Please explain how the bacteria are spreading (due to lower hygiene or…)
Klebsiella is a bacterium commonly found in the intestinal tract, so it will be present in the stool and thus in the diapers. Contact with the skin can lead to infection and once it's in the skin, it can spread further. It is a difficult situation in older people who have to wear diapers. Changing them frequently and being careful of good hygiene is very important. Depending on deep the infection is into her skin at this point, she may also need oral antibiotics as well as meticulous hygiene to clear this up. Hope this helps.
