Can Linzess Cause Swelling In The Stomach?

I was prescribed Linzess for constipation. Started taking it 3 days ago. So far it hasn t worked well, and I feel worse than I did before I started taking it. My stomach is really swollen and almost feel sick to my stomach, and just full. I did have a bowl movement once, but not sure if it was from what I ate the night before, or the meds. Do the side affects eventually go away? And does it take a few days to really start working?

Linzess (linactolide) can cause bloating (fullness of stomach) in patients.
I would usually advice my patient to take Linzess for 4 weeks only after which I would re-evaluate and decide about continuing or stopping.
So, you can take upto 4 weeks to look for any symptom improvement. Usually the side effects will subside. If the bloating is severe and unbearable, please contact your caregiver immediately. Hope this helps. Thanks.
