Can Lisinopril Cause Chest Discomfort, Nausea And Lightheadedness?
I m 62 years old, male, enlarged heart, and have been taking lisinopril for 6 weeks. My pulse rate is high and blood pressure between 108/84--- and pulse rate between 91 and l04...most of the time...chest discomfort and some nausea and light headedness...is this common when taking lisinopril?
Initially, lisinopril shows these adverse effects like lightheadedness, slow or irregular rhythm while body tries to adapt to the medicine. With time these should fade away, if these keep on increasing, I suggest seek medical help and explain these to the doctor.
Also, while changing posture from sitting or lying down to getting up, make sure do it slowly. These are usually observed side effects with the medicine. If the frequency is increasing or there are any additional side effects you observe then contact your doctor. He will either change the medication or dosage as per the requirement depending on your overall condition.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
