Can Long History Of Schizo-bipolar Disorder Cause Memory Loss?
I have a long history of schizo-bipolar disorder and my best friend has a long history of bipolar. We are both in our early 50 s and female. We both are convinced we have terrible, just awful memories. My friends memory disappeared since she had ECT when she was 44 yrs old. My memory has been poor ever since I was on Cogentin and I don t know when that was. I have had a stroke due to severe migraines too. Are those the reasons our memory s are gone, or is it our bipolar? Could it partly be our bipolar?
Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is chronic disorder and it also effect at cognitive level. May be due to these disorder, during the episode, you did not remember the incident. Sometime, due to poor insight about the illness, mostly patient forget about the episode. In your case, memory loss may be due to schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Thanks
