Can Long-term Dependence On A Medicine Render It Ineffective?

im on blood pressure medicine and have been for about 15 yrs im 56, work out regularly my pressure has been pretty stable, i quit smoking in june and now my pressure is like 126/49 even after exercise it may get up to 130/86 but within say 15 min is back down, is it too low, now that im n ot smoking do you think i might need medicine changed?

Hello,

Don't worry, it is not like that long term use of medication make ineffective. Here your blood pressure is in normal range. Only after exercise, it is not much elevated as expected. This may be dependent upon what type of anti-hypertensive your using, how much time you exercised, how vigorous exercise you did etc.
