Can Loud Sound Damage Nerves In The Ear?

I had a traumatic experience with a neighbor bringing up his amplifier to to to loud! He knows his sounds are bothering me and one day he showed me how loud he can be! He started his amplifier low and made it louder than ever before. It was Sep.10,2011 - he held the loudest level for 7 Min., I could feel something going on in my head - building up and burst. Since then my head feels pressure and fullness, thightness; I can still hear well; when I swallow my ears pop. Also uptight in neck. What can I do about my headpressure. My own Doctor gave me decongestion tabs - that only made my nose runny. Could to loud sound cause nervedamage in ear or head? Can tests be done? I am 57, 135lbs, 5.4 hight in good health otherwise.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
I understand your concern.Loud noises indeed can cause hearing loss, either temporarily or permanently. It depends on the duration as well as intensity of noise exposure. A very small duration wont cause major hurt. However, your sensation of popping when swallowing point towards fluid buildup in middle ear.( glue ear). In such situations, i will do a examination of the ear drum, do clinical tests as well as Audiogram. Please consult an ENT specialist at the earliest
