Can Low Muscle Tone Condition Be Carried By Fetus From Mother During Pregnancy?
I am expecting child number 5 and the last one was born this past April. I had a lot of problems with my muscles, mostly in my legs. It's hard to explain but it is like they thighten up when I get up and it takes them a while as I walk to loosen up. Our last baby was born with H. I. E. and one of his symptoms is low muscle tone. My Question is did my problem with my muscles have an affect with my last baby and will it affect this one?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy or Intrapartum asphyxia has several causes on the maternal and fetal side which ultimately lead to oxygen deprivation. Since your earlier child suffered from this condition, the muscle tone may have been decreased. Your present condition of muscle weakness can be due to malnutrition and needs thorough assessment. This is unlikely to present in the newborn, unless there is a hereditary element. Proper nourishment, rest and periodic monitoring help to solve the problem. Wish you safe motherhood.
