Can Marijuana Be Taken While On A Course Of Abortion Pills?
I just got a non-surgical abortion, using the abortion pill, otherwise known as Mifepristone (RU-486), an also and Rh shot because I am A- blood type. Am I able to smoke marijuana, or will it effect this process? I have 4 more abortion pills to take tomorrow.
Marijuana has multiple effects on the body, however none of them affect the workings of the female reproductive system.
Prolonged marijuana use can affect hormone levels, however there is no correlation between success of medical abortion or contraception while using marijuana.
Therefore, I do not believe that you should have any decreased effect of the medication if you are marijuana user. I recommend that you use the additional pills as directed and follow up with the instructions of your healthcare provider.
I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
