Can Medication For Hypothyroidism Be Continued With TSH Level Above 1?
Hi ! I am a 32 year old mother. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 6 moths post delivery with a TSH level of 60. From then on I am under medication (thyronorm 25mcg daily) for the past 2 years. Now my TSH level is just above 1, which was < 1 5 months back. Do I need to continue medication? if so how long? Do I need to check my TSH level when I am not under medication?
Hello and thank you for asking on HCM! You didn't mention your diagnosis but it should have been postpartum thyroiditis. It is a transitory loss of function of the thyroid gland which in most of the cases lasts a few months or year. Your actual dose is very low and you may try to stop the treatment and check the TSH after 6 weeks. If it is Hope the information will help. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
