Can Medications Taken For Treating The Symptoms Of Headache, Fatigue, Dizziness And Elevated Heart Rate Give A False Positive Pregnancy Test?

Hi for the last couple of months I’ve had headaches pressure in my head dizzy elevated heart rate and very tired. My doctor thought it was migraines so I’ve tried several different meds including Hydrochlorothiazide, verapamil and Tylenol pm. Today I went and took 3 different pregnancy test and they were positive. CN any of these meds cause false positive?

Hello,

The medicines taken for all the abovesaid symptoms do cause a false positive test for pregnancy. The pregnancy test comes positive due to raised levels of HCG hormone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
