Can Medrol Prednisone Cause Problem In Giving Blood?

Can medrol prednisone affect the drawing of blood. I Was on 3 dosepaks within a 2 month period. On a week off a week. After the last dose I had terrible side effects. But before meds, I didn t have a problem giving blood. Now after being stuck so much they finally know to use a baby needle. This never happened prior to steroids. I drink plenty of water, so that isn t an issue. Thank you

Hello,

Medrol can produce water retention and thereby make the veins less visible. This may make it a little more difficult to identify the vein well and enter it to draw blood. Often the experience of the phlebotomist also matters.
Medrol does not make the blood thicker and it does not make the flow of blood slower.
