Can Menstrual Bleeding Occur If Tampon Was Still Inside?

hi, I am not sure but think I may have forgotton to take a tampon out 2 days ago, I attemped to find it but had no luck. When I think i lost it it was only the second day of my period and I didnt have any bleeding all day yesterday. This morning I am bleeding as regular when I have my period. Would you still have bleeding from your period if the tampon was lost? Or is it possible it is still up there?
