Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Mirtazapine Medicine Have Direct Side Effect On The Skin And Hair Loss?
i have been taking mirtazapine for three months. After about two months on the drug i noticed the skin on the left side of the crown of my head became scaley and flakey and i started to suffer hair loss.Could this be a direct result of taking mirtazapine?
I can understand your concern. Mirtazapine is very less likely associated with hair loss and skin issues of scalp. It is more likely related to other cause which can be best evaluated by a dermatologist.
I suggest you visit a dermatologist and get it checked. Infectious cause can lead to hair loss and changes in skin of scalp. The dermatologist will examine it carefully and might run few tests to know the exact cause for this and depending on that appropriate instructions will be given to you for relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
