Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can My Husband Safely Put Off The Heart Cath For 2 Weeks?
My husband fainted and the doctor did a nuclear stress test which showed an abnormality of the heart wall that kept the blood from flowing to that part of the heart. He recommends a heart cath. Our granddaughter is set to arrive tomorrow. Can he safely put off the heart cath for 2 weeks?
Thanks for the query. If the presentation of his blocked artery was passing out, it is probably a very serious blockage, to a big territory or causing bad rhythms of the heart. Thus, it sounds at least urgent; in Medicine, an urgency is something that has to be addressed within just a few days, so 2 weeks may be just too much; I encourage you however to ask the primary cardiologist about his perspective on such waiting period.
Hope that helps, wish you the best,
