Can One With Bipolar, ADD And OCD Have Ketamine Infusion Therapy?

Dear Dr. Grief, I am a 69 year old man and was diagnosed as bipolar when I was 24 years old. I have been under the care of pschiatrists and psychologists since that time. I have never had to be hospitalized for this condition. I have co-morbid diagnoses of ADD and mild obsessive compulsive disorder. Would I be a candidate for ketamine infusion treatment? Thank you for any assistance you can provide me. I now live on the severely depressed end of the scale. No manic symptoms in years. I would give anything to know just a short period of normalcy or dare I ask, happiness just one time before the depression kills me. Thank You, Sam Barnes, Tallahassee, FL

You are 69 years old man with history of Bipolar disorder currently in depression, Attention deficit disorder and Obsessive compulsive disorder. You have taken treatment from multiple doctors and now want to go for Ketamine Infusion Therapy. Ketamine is an anaesthetic agent and this drug has been also found to be useful in a number of pain conditions and a number of severe cases of depression.

Resistant depression and OCD show good response to ketamine therapy in a number of trials. Consult your psychiatrist for Ketamine Infusion Therapy as it is the modality of treatment that is new and is reserved for severe resistant cases only.
