Can Penicillin Cause Cuts On Tongue And Sore Throat?

My tongue started hurting at the back with a sore throat a few weeks ago - was on and off so didnt take much notice. Now it is the central part of tingue and much worse. Feels bruised and as if burnt by a very hot coffee or something.Looking in the mirror there is a long crack down it which is quite deep at the front. Eating anything vinegary is agony. I am asthmatic and have been on penicillin for the last week so I considered oral thriush but I have no white patches nly red raw ones where it is hurting. Advice please!!!!

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Apthous Stomatitis and it can be due to side effect of penicillin while other causes can be vitamin B12 and iron deficiency, acid reflux, stress, physical injury to tongue with dentures etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and treatment of the underlying cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine for relief from pain and soreness.
Gargle with warm saline solution.
Take Ibuprofen for pain relief.
Suck on ice pops..
Avoid hot and spicy food and take a soft diet..er and maintain a good oral hygiene..
Take a multivitamin tablet for 1 month..
Drink plenty of wat
