Can Periods Become Lighter Due To Using Birth Control Since 12 Years ?

I have been taking some form of birth control for 12 yrs & the last 4 months viorele pill. I noticed my period has been lighter each month, last month barely anything, & this month nothing at all. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I'm concerned something is wrong. Is this a normal side effect? Any advice would be helpful?

Dear member,

Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
Continuous userid oc pills over a long time wi'll cause the endometrial suppression or shrinking so that in each cycle you bleed less. Over a long period of time this can cause scanty flow.
This does not cause any significant health problems.
If still you are concerned then you can discuss with your gynaecologist alternative contraception.
Thanks
