Can Pregnancy Still Happen After Taking Contraceptives?

I am on birth control but have had sex with my partner many times and sometimes he was not wearing a condom. I have had brown discharge for weeks and I seem to be overly emotional I took a test a few weeks back but it was negative. Could I be pregnant?

hello,

If you are taking regular contraceptive pill on proper scheduled time without any missed pill, then you will get highest protection against unwanted pregnancy and your chance of pregnancy is extremely low (less than 0.5%).

Brown discharge may be due to pelvic or vaginal infection, stress, hormonal cause, pill effect etc.

You should undergo one pelvic ultrasound scan and consult with doctor for next level management. Maintain genital hygiene. Good luck.
