Can Protein Shakes Cause Chest Pain Or It Is Due To Exercise?
I recently have been taking protein shakes because I started working out again. Ever since taking the shakes I have a stabbing sharp pain in my heart/chest area. what could be the cause of this, could it be the protein shake or could it be the exercising
I would say that chest pain which you have could be result of both. It can be due to protein shake as highly concentrated protein solutions can lead to gastritis and GERD (reflux of stomach content into oesophagus). Proteins require longer time for digestion, so it remains in stomach for longer time and which causes above problems.
However this pain could be due to excessive exercises too, as when one is taking protein supplements (shake) one tends to exert more in anticipation of consuming more protein. This over exertion results in to muscle tightness in chest causing pain.
I would like to advise you to visit a general surgeon for definitive diagnosis.
I hope i have clarified your queries. Do write for follow up questions. I wish you good health. Kindly rate my reply. Thank you.
