Can Reducing The Dosage Of Mestinon Affect A Blood Test Report?
I have myasthenia gravis and lupus. I have not been on medication for lupus but my Rheumatologist wants me to start on Plaquenil after recent blood work. I have been decreasing my Mestinon with my Neurologists permission. Would the reduction in Mestinon affect the numbers on my recent bloodwork? I know both issues involve ana titers. I am not feeling any symptoms of lupus. I m hesitant to take the plaquenil because the side effects are similar to my myasthenia symptoms so I wouldn t know what was causing the issues, plus I m a very active outdoors person and I m afraid of the side effects caused by sun exposure.
Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) can cause extraocular muscle palsies; skeletal muscle weakness; absent or hypoactive deep tendon reflexes on long term therapy. It has the potential to produce painless, largely proximal, muscle weakness associated with necrosis and autophagic vacuoles in the muscle biopsy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
