Can Regestrone Cause Problem With Pregnancy?

Hello Dr,I am 33 years old, I did folicular study in July and it was shown that not ruptured. then after a month (i.e on 1 setp I had regestrone 5 mg for 5 days, The pregnant test was positive when we tested after taking the tablet. will this pregnancy be a safe on? please advise. - kalai

Hello Kalai,

I understand your concern.
Regesterone is not advisable in pregnancy as it is known to interfere with the development of external genitalia in the baby. This effect occurs after 45 days into the pregnancy. I presume you took the tablets before that time and your pregnancy is safe. So relax and have a happy pregnancy. Take care to avoid non essential medicines and OTC products in the first month .
