Can Sharp Pain In The Flank Area Be A Symptom Of An Interstitial Tear?
I fell while walking down a steep trail recently and while falling I felt an intense sharp pain in my flank area. I m not sure if it was the impact that caused it or the pain started before the impact, but there is a constant ache in my left flank now and if I move wrong there is a very sharp pain. Knowing this did not feel normal I went to urgent care within a few hours of the fall. They did a urine test and did not find any blood in the urine and also a chest x-ray where they did not see any fractured ribs. I m really at a loss of what could be causing the pain, but it is extremely painful. It feels similar to kidney stones which I have had in the past. Could it be an interstitial tear? If I had a bruised kidney there should be blood in my urine correct?
It could be a renal stone or ureteric calculi. As first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a urologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.
