Can Skin Discoloration Be Treated With Various Treatment?

Hello I am a young woman in my early twenties of mixed heritage and I like in the UK. When I was a child I suffered from severe eczema and a few years ago I had a horrific bout of extensive ringworm. I was based in the states for a while and as a result of this combination I have great skin discoloration about my body, also as a result of great sun damage I not only have great discoloration but my skin has darkened many shades and has completely changes. I had a consultation with a dermatologist a few years ago and was told that there was nothing that could really be done. I then received advise from a dermatologist in the states that the only way I could be treated was through monobenzone known as benoquin because my ethnicity makes it harder for my skin to respond to hydroquinone treatment but I am not interested in complete dipigmentation. Mequinol was then suggested but unfortunately I have been unable to find these treatments for my problems in the uk. I have tried creams and many things for my problems, is there any hope for me?

Hi,

It is vital that you protect your skin whatever color or shade it may me. Make sure you apply sunscreen at least thrice a day 20 min before you leave your home.

Sunscreen will not lighten your skin tone but it will definitely protect it from getting darker. Also make sure your skin is adequately hydrated by applying intense body moisturizers at least twice a day after bath.

Apart from the above you can work on improving your diet and lifestyle too. Consume green leafy vegetables, pulses, legumes, nuts, seeds, dry fruits, fruits and make sure you have at least 8 glasses or 3 liters of water daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
