Can Steroid Shot For Cold Cause Increased Thyroid Levels?

I recently went to the doctor because I had been feeling very lethargic & run down. This started a couple of weeks after I had gotten a steroid shot for a cold I couldn't get rid of. This was the first steroid shot I have ever had. When the lethargy kept getting worse I finally made an appointment with my doctor after feeling this way for about 2 months. They drew blood & called me back the the results that showed my thyroid levels were borderline low. I just started .025 milligrams of synthroid. I am on day 2 of the medication.

Could this have been caused by the steroid shot? Will I have to take this medication forever. I don't know of anyone else in my family that has had thyroid issues.
