Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently began taking steroids after several people told me they were safe. The first two weeks of injections went smoothly, with no side effects. However, the past few injections I have began to feel this extremely uncomfortable feeling in the right side of my chest, accompanied by light-headedness. Automatically my mind goes to worst case scenario and thinks it is my heart. However, it does not feel like it is my heart. Do you think it is steroid induced anxiety or potentially something more serious? I fully intend to discontinue the usage of these steroids.
It is very dangerous to misuse steroids as there are a lot of side effects including the anxiety and other psychological adverse effects. You are at risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure, cataracts, weak bones just to mention a few. I appreciate your decision to discontinue the steroids if they are not medically indicated.
