Can Stress Cause Delay In Periods?

I dont want to sound dumb but i cant quit worrying. I had my period aug.17, it lasted somewhere between 5-7 days with days 2-4 being pretty heavy. The first week of september sometime my fiancé and i fooled around. His penis mainly rubbed against my clitoris but did slip inside once or twice, however he did not ejaculate inside of me, and no where near my vagina at all. On the 14th of september i started to get pinkish/brown discharge, i assumed i was getting my period because that is usually how it starts, but it has never come fully. I have been spotting for a week now and im worried i could be pregnant. I have all the same symptoms as when i get my period, and this happened once before back in december. I just got engaged, my work is stressful, and my fiancé is leaving for 6 months. I am just wondering how likely it is that i am pregnant or if stress really can cause my cycle to be thrown off. Thanks for the help.

Hello,

Delay in periods may be due to exhaustion, stress or anxiety. Poor diet, lack of adequate sleep, thyroid issues, hormonal imbalances, PCOS, etc. Since your fiance did not ejaculate inside your vagina, ideally you should not be pregnant. But sometimes, during foreplay if the pre ejaculate is in the fingers and gets into the vagina, you may get pregnant though chance is low.

The pre ejaculate contain sperm with equivalent concentration and motility that can make you pregnant. If you were not on regular CP and did not take emergency CP within 72 hours then you should get a pregnancy test done if you miss your periods.

You can also get clinically examined by a gynecologist to confirm pregnancy. If not pregnant, you may need treatment of any pathology detected. Get it managed at the earliest. In the meantime, take food rich in minerals and protein. Take adequate sleep and avoid addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
