Can Swelling And Darkness In The Site Of Crushed Finger Tip Be Necrosis?

Hi I had my finger tip crushed and torn off last monday it was only the tip and I was givn 5 stitches. They also removed the nail and did 3 stitchs under the nail but replaced the nail. Now 5 days later I have a small patch of black skin under 2 of the stitches. There is little swelling and minimal pain. The nurse who did this told me that often with finger tips they will harden off during healing and fall off. So I am thinking this darkness under the one side is the start of the necrosis which would lead to this sluffing off of the damaged tip. Would this be correct?
