Can Swelling Of Face And Lip Every Be Related To Kidney Infection Of Self Prescription Of Medicines?

My girlfriend woke up the other morning and half of her face was swollen including her upper left lip. As the day passed her face and lip returned to normal. It happened again the next day and today. She recently self diagnosed a kidney infection and self prescribed herself left over sulfur antibiotics and is currently taking them from directions found on the Internet based on her research. The antibiotics were some that were left over from a previous uti. Based on the information on the antibiotics and the Internet they were the correct type and dosage. what could be causing this?
