Can Taking Cortisone Shots Be Safe To Treat Calcified Tendonitis?

I have been put on a strong drug to combat pain from calcific tendonitis. I am 60, diabetic and an aerobics instructor for 35 years prior to the last few. I wanted to see a picture of what a degenerated tendon in the shoulder looks like as the pain is horrible. Can cortisone shots help?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,
Yes steroid injection in shoulder do work if given properly.
It acts locally so it is safe.

Shoulder problem should be diagnosed with MRI and arthroscopic repair if required will give good results.

Physiotherapy will help for early recovery. Physiotherapy like USG and TENS will help.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
