Can Taking Flucloxacillin Cause Delayed Periods?

Can taking flucloxacillin delay your period? I used to come on my period at the end of every month for about 5 years but this year it s switched and it s at the beginning. Usually around the 4th. I started a course of flucloxacillin on the 3rd and am 3 days late. This is uncommon for me as I am on time every month and if I m late, it is usually up to a day but no longer. I m not worried as I do not have sex and my period doesn t affect me in any other way than it happening but I am wondering if flucloxacillin can cause delayed periods.

I have gone through the query and understood your concern. The medication you have taken does not cause delayed menstruation. It is the infection for which you have taken the medication that may be responsible for the delay in the cycle.Transient hormone imbalances leading to temporary menstrual irregularities can occur with sudden weight changes, stress, infections etc. Since you have no chance of conception, you can wait for a week after your expected date for your period and go for further help if you still do not receive your period.
