Can Taking I-pill After Having Unprotected Sex Prevent Pregnancy?

Hi. Had unprotected sex with gf and ejaculated inside vagina. within 25 hours she took i-pill. Then after 8-9 days heavy bleeding occurs with large blood clots and severe lower abdominal pain, which lasted for 4-5 days. Is there still a chance of pregnancy for that act of sex?

Hello,

I pill is an emergency contraceptive pill which acts by changing the hormonal levels immediately. The most common side effect of I pill is that it changes the menstrual cycle. So due to that side effect, your partner's menstrual cycle and menstruation date has changed.

In addition, she should expect her menstruation of the next month based on the new date.

I hope this answers your query. Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your concern. Let me know if you have nay follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
