Can Taking Permethrin Be Safe For Scabies?

I have lesions on my arms-they were ingrown hairs that I shouldn't have messed with, but I picked at them and removed the hairs that were ingrown. I work in a chemistry lab-our air went out and the heat aggravated them so bad I had to leave. I went the the doctor and he said it was scabies. I even told him I had picked at them. I didn't use the permethrin cream he gave me until just a minute ago-if this was a misdiagnosis, will the cream irritate my arms? I am currently taking Bactrim, Doxycycline, and atarax. Please help. Thanks!
