Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Zoloft is sertraline and it is a SSRI drug. The drug is a good antidepressant drug and it is free of serious side effects. Usually it takes time to show its full effect. Response time for sertraline is about 6-8 weeks. Even on medicines you are depressed so I would advise you to wait for some time to see full effect.

Yes zoloft is safe to use in depression. The medicines causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, giddiness, sedation as common side effects. Over all it is free of serious side effects.

You have still intolerable persisting symptoms so I would advise you to visit your doctor again and tell in detail about your symptoms. In severe resistant addition of some augmentation drug like Bupropion, Mirtazepine along with SSRIs help to improve symptoms. Duloxetine is also a good option, the drug will help to reduce depressive pain also. Consult your psychiatrist for these medicines. Psychological methods like Cognitive Behavior Therapy also result in early response of medicines.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
